A lot of things have happened in the last few weeks. After the shoot out I focused on getting the bar back up and runnin, getting Joey out of our lives and just starting fresh with Ev. I tried not thinkin too much about what coulda happened, how things goulda een worse. Bella is on the mend and Eric pretty much back to normal. They both say

Eva and i are each reading our own books when i hear the sound of another heartbeat approaching and know instinctively that it's Ralph. it brings a smile to my face when he appears at the bottom of the stairs a few moments later with a plate of food in his hands.

"hey baby" i say, my voice that low soft tone i reserve only for him.

I know they probably don't wanna eat, but it's and excuse to come down and check on them. Cristoff is sleepin, I assume he was tranq'd again. Ev and Eva are both quiet readin. Smilin at Ev, "Hey, darlin'"

I put the plate down on one of the stools and lean down and kiss Ev's temple, before turnin to Eva and givin her a small smile. "Eva."

I look up from my book to see Ralph setting another plate of food down over by Ev. Then he leans down and kisses her and I think how odd it is to see Ralph kissing Ev. 'Cause whoa, it just trips me out that sometime while we were on our honeymoon they got together.

I smile at him when he looks over at me. "Hey Ralph. Thank you, for the food and well, just for being here trying to help us." I look back at Cristoff sleeping next to me for a minute. "It was good, we enjoyed it."

Smilin back at her, "Anytime, Eva. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it."

I wait for her to go back to readin then I turn back to Ev talking to her in a low voice only her and me probably can hear. "How's it goin? I see you had to tranq him againg."

shit, with all of this happening i'd forgotten to tell him. "sorry baby, i was going to tell you and then well, Eva called the first time." i look over at her but she's fallen asleep next to Cristoff with the book still propped up on her lap. i figure i'll leave her for a bit, he should be tranqed up for a while yet.

"you know how i was feeling a little off recently? i figured out why when i was at the estate last time. Michael severed our connection, it took me a while to realize it was gone."

"No reason to be sorry. I figured you'd tell me sooner or later." Thinkin about what she said and how Michael had severed the connection, I'm relieved that he would do that for her, but I don't wanna be a jerk, :How do you feel about that?"

[evalon]

"it's taking some time to get used to the quietness, but i'm feeling pretty good about it." i smile over at him because i really am good with it, better than good. "it was okay when we were together, having him in my head like that, but i'm very glad i don't have to go through eternity with him there."

I'm glad she's okay with it. I woulda been a little disturbed if she had been upset at the loss. "Good, I don't think I would have been too happy with him bein in your head for an eternity either." Coulda said that better, "But I could see where it's be an adjustment for you. You sure you're doin okay with it?"

[evalon]

"i think, actually i know i can be perseverant. stubborn too, but it's the perseverance that makes me adjust sometimes. i'm not always willing to let things go when i maybe should, so i adjust myself to try and make things work longer than they probably would. like my relationship with Michael."

i smile back at him. "if you'd of seen me as a human you'd of given me less than five minutes to live. i should've died a lot of times, but either by luck or circumstance i didn't. it's almost funny in a way that i escaped it all of those times just to end up dying anyway to live." i probably shouldn't be making light of it, most people don't seem to appreciate my sometimes morbid sense of humor.

"I'd hope, if things weren't workin with us that you wouldn't hang in there just outta perserverance. Thats not a way to be together. Though I don't think we'll have a problem with that." Smilin at her, for some reason I honestly don't. We got this thing going, I don't see us bein any different.

With a wry grin. "I think you mighta given me a heart attack if I had known you when you were human." Probably not, I think I woulda enjoyed knowin her in any stages of her life. Curious, "What kinda things did you used to do to make you say that?"

i smile softly and lean over to kiss him, there's no way i feel like we could ever be at a point like that. "i don't foresee me ever feeling like i have to just persevere with you, you don't ask anything of me but to be myself."

oh lord, he might have a heart attack over some of the things i could tell him. "well, hmm...there was the time i went down into the old Initiative caves with an M-16 and a group of friends to help retrieve something, i forget now what it turned out to be but it wasn't what i originally thought it was. that was creepy yet interesting. didn't have any near death experiences out of it, though." i try and remember what we went down there for but all i can remember is what happened afterwards. "i did end up in the middle of a gunfight afterwards due to some unforeseen side effects. i was trying to tranq dart a friend of ours who'd gone a little nuts and was shooting the hell out of Yuff. he got like 30 bullets and i somehow didn't get hit once."

I raise an eyebrow at her, I was just kiddin about the heart attack stuff, but if her idea of interestin was a m-16 and anythin to do with the initiative, she probably woulda given me a heart attack. Amused, "Do I need to take the tranq gun from you? I mean if Yuffie got shot 30 times, maybe you aims just as good as his?"
