What do you do when you are hungry...

I just make Paej for myself which is made with a reddish brown rice (supposed to be very nutritious and healthy) and eat it with a side of pickle - especially the kind that you get in Mangalore called Appamidi.  As a kid, i used to also add Toop (ghee) into the rice along with salt.  Now i add only the salt.

Yeah.. it tastes good, very filling and the rice itself is pretty aromatic. The pickle is actually a mango pickle made with ground spices. The mangoes used in this pickle are tiny whole mangoes.

Yumm, Yumm!
We do this ocassionally on sundays for dinner :-)
For pickle, we have my grandmother's spicy "HinDi" made with minced mangoes - do you know what I'm refering to?

Though it is simple, it is very satisfying. Isn't it?

Hmm... am not quite sure what HinDi is? Maybe a different term for the same thing. Are you referring to Kotla lonche? Woah! all this spicy food talk is making my mouth water.

i only know the konkani term our grandmother used. The spices are essentially the same, but she used finely minced mangoes and green chillies and there was no "ros".

It sounds like the same thing to me. Kotla lonche is the Konknai term i know of for this type of pickle and this too dosen't have any rossu. I think they also serve this in sme Weddings.

Haha! I don't blame you. Even a normal (not pregnant) person would feel the same.

Hey! Being pregnant is a very normal. Normal is not an appropriate opposite word for pregnant.

You are right... what i didn't realise was i missed the word 'just'. It should have read (not just pregnant).

Chinese fried rice - Shiok style? Somehow, i have never been a maggi fan. I would rather eat some fruits or make some 'knorr' soup for myself than eat maggi.

You can find this rice in any Indian store. Try it sometime.
