maybe that's why i am sometimes afraid of kisses ... a promise of more and i wonder if i can keep that promise / expectation

The great thing about kisses, is that the promises are shared. A kiss doesn't have to promise everything - and it shouldn't back you into a corner (unless it's that kind of a kiss!!!).

sometimes a kiss is just that - a kiss! and we shouldn't put too much into it ... no promise ... no gateway to something else - just a kiss that says 'i am a kiss'!

I don't think everyone does like kisses. I've been having a whole conversation, elsewhere on lj, about touch and what degree of touch people like and are comfortable with and that varies widely. A kiss is so much more intimate, I can understand why not everyone would like them...

Me, on the other hand, I would tell my life story - with all the gory details - to any perfect stranger who would listen... so what do I know..?!

Promises don't have to be big. They can be as little as "This is it" to "Maybe next time" to ...whatever.

I agree about societal pressure though. People in general have a very narrow way at looking at the world. And I HATE that we need to live by rules created by small minded people! You should be able to kiss someone without the world watching and assuming you're cheating on your spouse, or whatever.

I needed to be born in the 51st century... Just call me Captain Jack.
