Okay. You know what? I'm not really angry. I'm not upset. Right now, I am still in the honeymoon phase concerning the newest episode of Smallville and I'm sure y'all know why. Hee. This was only the 2nd time she's had sex in her entire life. And she was in a serious relationship both times.

In my opinion Lana would only be a slut if she had sex with like a different random guy every other episode. And she practically does the opposite of that. If anything she's more prudish than slutty, LOL! I don't think she's a prude, I just think she's closer to being a prude than being a slut.

I feel like the people calling her a "slut" now can't possibly actually think that. I mean they've got to just be bitter or something. Or they just love calling her names whether it makes sense or not. sigh.

Exactly. She's only had sex with two men in her entire life, and she was in a serious relationship with both of them. If she had anonoymous sex with miscellanous men, or was two-timing, or whatever, then yeah I would understand using such an insult lol. But come on. You're right, while she is definitely neither a slut nor a prude, she would certainly lean closer to being a prude if anything, hah. I mean... holding out with sex with Lex for that long? Hell, I couldn't even do that lol!

I don't think they mean slut in a slutty way... it's just an insult to show how bad they dislike her, you know?

My fav' insult for her was Miss Perfection. That fits her way better (at least the Lana of the first seasons, but as I find myself liking her these days...)

Yes, that is true. While I'm sure there are those who do actually think she is a slut, there's no doubt that many others are just using it as an insult to show how much they really hate her guts.

It's that so many people use the term "slut" so easily, they'll throw it out there just like that, and I truly think that's got to stop. I find it sexist.

Any female character on tv who has either had sex or worn revealing clothes has a high probability of getting the word 'slut' thrown at her. And it is sexist. It's horribly sexist. It's just an easy insult to use, something that people know is going to sting, something that would hurt to hear no matter how untrue it is. It sucks that people do that.

I thought the Lana/Lex scene was very beautifully done.

Sad, but unfortunately it is the truth. It is incredibly sexist and unfair, and I absolutely hate seeing women use that word as an attack or insult for other women. You are so right, it is such an easy insult to just throw out like that towards other women, wether it's true or not, and it is incredibly hurtful for anybody to hear that word used on them. People are either using that attack against Lana because they really view her as one now (which IMO is far from the truth), or they're just using it as an easy insult, but either way, it doesn't make it any less wrong. And franky, it's just lame.

I'd have to agree with you.

Considering Lana has had sex with only 2 people, although I still think she did it at some point with Jason off screen- but, that's another thing all together.

I would never consider her a slut- Lex on the other hand, not so much. *g*

Heh, I think a lot of people had a hard time believing Lana and Jason never had sex throughout the course of their relationship, and you know, with them living together... some figured why on earth Jason would live with her if he wasn't getting any lol.

And bwah! Exactly. If anybody could be considered a slut, it'd be Lex of all people. =P

Hee! I can't help but be amused at your rant. You phrase it so charmingly: And if you're going to just throw random insults at Lana becaue you hate her so much, at least use something a little more fitting, eh? You could be a little more original than that! Shame on you!

I admire you for defending Lana so passionately, and I agree wholeheartedly. She's not a slut. Also, I find it distasteful for women to use the term to attack other women. It's sexist in that a woman is still more easily attacked in this way than a man--ditto with being called a 'prude'. Her sexual status is so frought, and it's awful.

Chloe also embraced her sexuality in this episode: so Lana's hardly on her own. Lana's been shown to be more hesitant than Chloe in sexual consummation. (I'm remembering that chat they had post-Chloe's first fling with Jimmy.) But in this episode, they are both shown to be confident adults making mature choices that bring them happiness.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the ep. I ADORED it. I will rewatch it endlessly.

It IS KK and her bf! Well spotted. And it's from the same photo shoot as the one with Rosey in it. I know that photo well. ;-) KK looks so glowy and happy, and MR's so chummy... who can blame you for those menage a troi thoughts?! (a happy KK with a boy beside her makes me feel all warm and fuzzy)

Hee. Hey, somebody has to step in and defend Lana, too many people too often are quick to go against her character, and it simply isn't fair that the Lana-haters seem to be the only ones with a voice, you know? But I'm really glad to see other people that feel the same way about Lana and her being called such a name. Because no, she isn't a slut. And I can't believe so many people are calling her that. For one thing, that is far from true. And it is sexist. It sucks to see other females, ones who I would think would be supportive and enjoy Lana growing out of her shell, are having such a what seems to be a knee-jerk reaction of hate towards her. I would have thought more people would become accepting this Lana. But no, let's face it... no matter what she does, people are going to find reasons to hate her, they're going to call her insulting names. And I find that to be lame ( ... )
