I'm not a fan of the most popular theories on why we're here, but most of the time I have zero interest in coming up with one of my own. As far as I'm concerned, the most important thing is that I survive do the best I can with what I have.

I have some free time tonight. Anyone for pool? My opponents keep disappearing.

Perhaps that's the only way to go about it without losing your sanity. I admit I'm very fond of a good theory or two, but after a while it leaves you quite skeptical.

But maybe we just haven't heard the right theory yet; there seems to be enough people in the City to assume that one of their theories should be close to the truth.

In any case, I'm not all that talented at pool, but I'd be happy to except your offer in order to pass the time.

Skepticism suits me. If any of the theories I've heard are correct, I'd probably rather not know it.

I'm Julia. And don't worry about not being the best pool player. All you really need to be is willing.

I suppose. They say ignorance is bliss after all so it makes sense that you may want to take that approach. I'm still debating whether my natural curiosity is good quality to have or not... But I digress.

Are willing pool players that hard to come by in this place then? I'll look forward to it.

I think knowing the reason -- if there is one -- would be an exercise in frustration. But there's nothing wrong with natural curiosity.

I'm sure there are willing players out still out there. It's just a matter of finding them. I've never been picky about who I play against.

Some people here gets pets for company. I go out and play pool.
