Where: 12 Grimmauld Place. The Trio and Ginny are in the kitchen waiting. Remus has just arrived and Sirius is there to greet him.

“Hallo, Remus.”
Bracing himself against the doorway to the salon, where he had been sitting alone in the darkness, Sirius regarded the other man. He saw his own exhaustion mirrored on Remus’s careworn face, saw it in the weary set of his shoulders and the way the worry lines on his forehead seemed just a little deeper.
This war was aging all of them.
Well and so, Sirius thought, then we will age. It’s a fair price for winning.Though even that prospect was tenuous at best. With tensions growing every day between the members of the Order confined to the house and bad news coming in just as often as good, Sirius could muster little energy for hope. So he kept the peace as best he could - which meant not very well, as his temper was just as liable to flare as anyone’s - and spent the rest of his time sifting ( ... )

Remus considered the man before him, how worn and tired he looked. It made him feel bitter. He hated this burden; it seemed that no matter what he could say it would always wear them down.
For a moment he debated over what to say. He did have news, but it was difficult to say what kind. In the hands of an active imagination it could mean millions of different things.
He had hoped to avoid this conversation until morning, rest before making any mention of it, but it was out of the question. Remus sighed and shook his head,
"It's better than nothing I supposed."
He wanted to ask Sirius how he was feeling but he stopped himself, instead he gave Sirius a small smile,
"How are things holding up here?"

Sirius couldn't help but chuckle wryly. How were things holding up? Sometimes he wasn't even sure. Earlier that day, he had heard Molly and Ron get into yet another screaming match over whether or not the kids should be allowed to join the Order; Sirius had done his damndest to be elsewhere, but Molly...well, Molly had a voice that carried. Harry was, as usual, surly and unapproachable, and he didn't even know where Hermione had been all day. Maybe that was a good thing. He rubbed his temples, suddenly unspeakably glad that Remus was there. It would be good to have a calm, steady presence around the house for even a little while ( ... )
