Resolving 1: locked to vicioussweetie

*It's raining hard in Betauben. The sky is a solid, flat iron-grey above a sea the colour of newly-hewn slate. There are few tall ships in port this week, only a few brigantines clustered close to dock like kittens huddling against their mother for protection from the storm.

The bulk of the Jolly Roger, when it turns the corner of the bay, looks twice its normal size in comparison. The ship's secondary mast is listing at a bad angle, and the hull itself seems to be riding low and uneven on the waves.

But she's moving, and she turns toward her mooring, limping under the downpour. The crew man her sturdily, despite the fact that their fearsome captain isn't there to watch. He's inside, leant with his back against the inner door of his cabin, his eyes closed*
