He really is. I think you have to be, in order to really be talented. All the best musicians I can think of are just totally whacked.

I love this. It's... sweet, in a way? And I love the way he speaks of Jeff, and how you've got Jeff just as a slightly strange character? Which is the way I think he needed to be written.
