You chose a stranger’s love over a friend’s trust. Now you expect us to be friends?
- Isabelle Dagmang
All that buried lust, carefully stowed away in the deepest darkest corners of his mind where he thought it couldn’t hurt him.
All those longing glances that he forced himself to pull away from, the lingering touches that he didn’t let himself extend.
All that time in the forest, all the work he put into telling himself he would not, could not love Allan.
It was all for nothing because here he was, fighting back the bitter sting of tears in front of the man, the traitor, in question, mourning a relationship that never was because without even realising it he had let himself fall for the other man.
Hurt made his breath catch in his throat. Maybe death would finally stop the warring of anger and affection that Allan’s blue eyed gaze provoked in his heart.
Despite the whispers in the back of his head telling him how wrong his thoughts were, the devotion he told himself he didn’t harbour, the warmth he tried so hard not enjoy when the other man’s fingers brushed his, despite it all Will had somehow fallen in love with Allan.
“You make me sick, you know that, betraying your old friends. Yeah, well I hope you’re enjoying it Allan, I couldn’t live with myself.” He forces himself to say coldly, because he had known from the start that loving Allan would only be setting himself up for a fall.
The sight of Allan striking the fool as cruelly as Gisborne or the Sheriff was just another nail in the coffin he was burying his feelings for the other man in. That’s what he tells himself at least.
Yet when the deception is revealed, when Will locks his dark eyes with Allan’s bright ones he feels all the feelings he shouldn’t have surge free, swelling in his chest.
And then Allan walks away and he remembers.
Allan made his choice; he’s Gisborne’s man now.
Later that night Djaq’s soft hands would cup his cheek and she would ask how he was in that quiet gentle way of hers and it wouldn’t be nearly as comforting as Allan’s warm callused hands or cheerful voice but it would be close enough.
It would have to be.

The red dusk had given way to a dark night.
The moon half hidden behind clouds gave him barely enough light to see the pale skin that was exposed as he wrenched Allan’s shirt over his head.
The other man whimpered as Will ran his hands over a chest already lightly gleaming with sweat.
Their harsh breathing intermingled as Will rested his forehead against Allan’s and bucked his hips into the other man’s, feeling Allan’s hardness through the thick material between them.
Will rubbed his thumb over an over sensitised nipple while his other hand snaked between them to undo Allan's belt, he carefully avoided the dark bruising covering one of Allan’s hips just as he had the bite mark on his shoulder. He didn’t ask, he didn’t need to know.
It was one night, he resolved as he shed the clothing covering his own abdomen, just one night to relieve the ache and then he will go back to the camp and nothing will have changed.
One night of sweat slickened bodies melting together under the starlight.
Come morning they would be enemies again.
