i'm still wondering what the hell a "sooner" is...I mean, I know what what a panther is, (EIU) I know what a fighting irish is (Notre Dame, and myself for that matter,) and I know what a Hawkeye is (Iowa...I think). But seriously...what the hell is a sooner? Is it some redneck term for someone who has sex with his sister and goat in the same day? Something like "I just had me some good sex with the goat...SOON I'm gonna go do ma sista". I would have to agree with Charles Barkley...Oklahomo is a wasteland

"Herpe-Spore missiles armed and ready, sir!"

soo-ner (sū'•nər), n., 1. a person who started collecting sums of Unassigned Land before the official presidential proclamation of "land to be auctioned" to settlers in the Oklahoma Territory as by the Indian Appropriation Act of 1889 (i.e., someone who arrived "sooner" than the legitimate claim-stakers), 2. the mascot of the University of Oklahoma, 3. (slang) any resident of Oklahoma, 4. (slang, antiquated) a cheater.

The song, "Boomer Sooner," the official anthem of the University of Oklahoma, refers to the "boom" of the cannon that was to signify the land claims had begun, as well as the "sooners" who had beaten everyone to the claiming of land.

Yeah. They're still here. They usually are seen running casinos, though.

In previous disgruntled Oklahoma posts, you have excluded me from the mass of redneck idiots that comprise this god-awful state. I hope this continues to be true. <3

In other news... Only a few more months til I move to CO... FINALLY.

Of course I do, Sara. Why on earth would I think you as brazen an idiot as they are?

And you're moving to Colorado??!? Why wasn't I informed of this? I'm the Boss! Need the info!

Yeah, I saw the whole situation too, so I might as well jump in here since I watch too much football as is. Was the call blown? Yes. Absolutely, the replay official was wrong. I can understand the referees blowing that because everything's moving on at normal speed, but the replay official should've caught it ( ... )

I had it all put together for me this morning: the fact that OU doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell any more after the blown call, the middle class losing itself in college football around here as a pastime ... and now that you bring up the extra money involved, I can see finally why it's such a big deal. I never knew that bowls added money to schools/sports programs before.

Hopefully, their upcoming match against Texas will avert some of the hostility, assuming OU does well without their first-string QB. Way to accept soft money and get in trouble, douche-rocket.
