11. Hours.

Yep. I put in 11 straight hours in the art show yesterday. There were precious few volunteers available, so I stayed all day, except for when I was off on emergency supply runs. Never even went upstairs.

BTW - artists are morons. Not speaking of myself, as I can read basic instructions, use common sense and ask questions if I don't understand. But ( Read more... )

Wow. That's just unbelievable but I can see it happening.

I have been guilty of walking into the art show at Shoreleave to see if there is any space left but I don't expect it.

Packing Art and following instructions seems to me to be basic for sending into an art show. I don't mail in because my stuff is hard to set up and I don't want to inflict it on anyone else.

Yeah... that's why I wanted to do an Art Show 101 panel this year at A-kon to show artists how to properly prep their artwork. I was mostly going to demo how to mat but I was going to cover side topics like 'do your paperwork before the show' and 'dummy up your panel so you know how it's gonna fit.'

Maybe next year...

Heh heh :) Add 'how to bag/shrink wrap your prints' to the list. There are quite a few of those here, between dust, bulldog clips and fingerprints they're definitely endangered. And make sure your art will actually hang on the wall without falling off, send it to the art show staff rather than the hotel, etc...
