In these posts, for those who have only recently friended me, I post a selection of music for you all to enjoy. This time, with the holidays upon us, I have decided to give you all the gift of music

Most random of musical trivia...

The Echoing Green recorded a cover version of "Do They Know it's Christmas." But the CD went out of print almost as fast as it went on the shelves (I think the company didn't get permission for most of the covers to be done) so I'm one of few people who has it. Nothing says "bitter and jaded over this holiday" like cheery synthpop covers of Band Aid.

Considering most of the people in Band Aid were New Wave artists, it makes me lol extra.

That's true! Probably why Joey wanted to do the cover in the first place, I would guess. (we used to tease him with the line "nobody knows you're New Wave)

I should hop on his myspace and ask his permission to share his version with you.

Oh some favorites in there. I've always loved the Crosby/Bowie Drummer Boy, the Lennon and Band Aid pieces are always emotional experiences, and anything from TSO is a delight.

I remember the Bowie/Crosby duet being a VERY big deal for its time, given the musical bridge between their generations had never quite existed before then.
