Mal is visiting. Kaylee's a fan. Kaylee is less of a fan of being left behind to do all the cooking while Simon and Mal get to go have fun at the market, but they both have marching orders to get her a really excellent present

Mal is sometimes less than fantastic when it comes to presents. Especially ones he did not make or steal himself - paying for things, bargaining and hassling to get the best deal can suck all the fun right out of your time off from...bargaining and hassling people for a living.

The marketplace is rather enormous for what Mal normally finds himself in during his travels, and his eye is constantly wandering. This makes him a rather quiet walking companion as Simon and Mal start to make their way down the northern aisles between vendor stalls.

"Something nice to wear, maybe?" Simon's looking at a large stall up ahead, hung with bright embroidered fabrics.

"Maybe..." He's still sort of focused elsewhere, walking through what must be a commonplace kind of area for Kaylee and Simon both. Still so new.

The fabrics - silks - seem promising. Mal has seen Inara wrap her hair around in one a couple of times.

Keeping at least one hand's fingers looped lazily around the underside of his holster keeps Mal from looking too uncomfortable.
