Re: LoudTwitter

I know some of you use LoudTwitter to post Tweets to your LJ, so I thought it only fair to let you know about this. I don't know if it's a formatting issue but they almost always appear to be garbled half-conversations I've long since given up trying to follow. I may have mentioned this before, but they make me feel like the one kid in the corner ( Read more... )

Eh, no worries. I never can understand the context of loudtwitter either (the lists going from most recent to least recent does not comprehension make!) and just scroll on over 'em.

It always looks to me as if it's part of a conversation between people I don't know and half the replies are to things that were said hours ago and aren't included in that post. I was quite happy to just scroll past until people started flouncing and tbh didn't even know there was a filter until people were roundly condemned for using it. So I'm possibly actually just using it because of people getting hysterical.

People have started flouncing that you don't read their twitter?

Oh ffs.

Sadly. Though I suppose it's good they have nothing more serious to flounce about. It seems quite a few people on my f-list have been caught up in all this. Apparently nobody who uses LoudTwitter is willing to acknowledge that the formatting is genuinely awful, so they're going on about how inconsiderate it is of people to expect them to crosspost to LJ. It doesn't seem to have dawned on any of them that nobody does expect them to crosspost, or that almost nothing posted on Twitter is of any vital importance that anyone can yet discern (apart from the legendary moment where Stephen Fry got stuck in a lift). But anyway, there is drama and the cutting of friends lists. It's all a bit epic in a truly hilarious sort of way.

*hugs* I was about to do the same thing, but then ended up starting a huge argument on irc yesterday. If I wanted to follow twitter I'd get an account. Hope you feel better soon

Sorry you got caught up in the drama too. I have a feeling that following Twitter on Twitter might actually be ok but this whole thing and the fuss it's stirred up are very off-putting.

It all sounds a bit mad to me. I'm lucky none of my friends here use twitter. I've no idea what it's all about really.

In principle I think Twitter isn't a terrible idea because it forces people to be really uninteresting in less than 140 characters. But then I can be really uninteresting in less than 140 characters on LJ too, and I'm not sure why I'd bother doing it somewhere else.
