I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with adaptations. Sometimes I'm fine with them or with a certain aspect of an adaptation, but then there are things from the book that I would have loved to see in the movie but were left out, or others that were added in the movie and weren't in the book.
It happens only very very rarely that I prefer the movie to the book. However, I do prefer The Vampire Diaries series to the books, for example. And I'm also okay with True Blood deviating quite considerably from the book series.
Another story are film adaptations of plays (mostly Shakespeare). I love 10 Things I Hate About You and even the Buz Luhrmann adaptation of Romeo & Juliet.

Yeah, me too. It's a give and take thing I guess. We can't have everything in the movie because it would be soooo long but at least some good parts are in it.

The one book I was soooo disappointed in was Mansfield Park. I loved the movie version with Jonny Lee Miller and thought I'd like the book too since I haven't read it. I go and read it and am so bummed afterwards. The book!Fanny was such a mouse. She was so boring. I couldn't really root for her. I liked Jonny's Edmund better than the book one. I was so bummed I can't even tell you. It still bugs me to this day so I'm wary of reading the book if I really like the movie version.
