128k isn't terribly speedy, but it's still significantly faster than the best dialup connection.

And it's free!

I think that's a great thing. If people want more, they can buy it from the usual suspects.

your standard dialup runs at 56k, so 128 is about twice the speed of dialup.

for a full breakdown here you go, a bit is one 0 or 1 in binary. a byte is a bundle of 8 bits, about 1 character of text.

a kilobyte is 1024 bytes, so a kilobit is 1024 bits.

128k is 128 kilobits per second, so every second its like 131,072 0s and 1s sent to your computer.

Quick breakdown.
kilobyte = 1024 bytes
megabyte = 1024 kilobytes
gigabyte = 1024 megabytes
terabyte = More info than you need to know right now. :)
