niggling thought

If I had spent the hours I've put into training myself to be an academic on writing instead, I would probably have a book out by now. I don't do this for an internal and an external reason: I lack the discipline, and I need an institute to stamp my visa. This is depressing. Not at all. You wouldn't be able to write as good a novel (I take it that is the kind of book you mean, not one on Greek loan-words int he Talmud) without the education. And they are teaching you the discipline, aren't they?
