The Salvatores were the worst omg. The more I think about it, the more I rage. What was up with their deluded logic that only the guy who'd shove his wrist in Abby's throat would be the 'bad guy'? They planned the whole thing together, are they really dumb enough to think the guy who does the actual deed would be only culprit? AND THE FACT THAT DAMON SAID IT OUTLOUD AT THE END. He did it so that Stefan wouldn't have to feel guilty? WHAT EVEN? Coldly plotting Abby's murder, being completely in support of the plan, flipping a fucking coin to decide who does it, being 100% alright with being the one doesn't put a wench in Stefan's quest to be ~good~ again but the physical act of turning Abby does?
& I will be okay if it seemed like the show is saying that both the brothers are deluding themselves into setting the false good brother!bad brother dichotomy again because they feel comfortable in those roles but I really felt like we were actually supposed to think thatDamon was selfless by taking the 'fall' for

Haha at first I thought it might have purposely been dark? Like I'm obsessed with the idea that S3 is actually about showing that both Stefan and Damon are the worst boyfriends, but you're right that they were trying to show that Damon was being all ~selfless in his love for Elena by taking the fall for Stefan. Ugh, I can't. So disappointed that this is the last episode we get before hiatus lol.

I can't even though with fandom's attitude towards Elena right now. I need to get off tumblr; it is the worst cesspool for this. DAMON AND STEFAN ARE NOT GOD'S GREATEST GIFT ON EARTH. THEY ARE, IN FACT, SERIAL MURDERERS AND RAPISTS WHO WERE WILLING TO KILL ELENA'S BEST FRIEND IF IT MEANT SAVING HER LIFE... EVEN THOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGED SHE WOULDN'T WANT THAT. Fuck no, you are not. Fandom's attitude towards Elena has just become the worst and it's not just in D/E fandom. I saw someone on tumblr the other day saying they would lose all respect for Elena if she "gave up" on Stefan. Which what the hell? What does Elena owe Stefan? He's a serial murderer. He threatened to KILL HER just to get back at Klaus. She's already gone far and above what she owes him.

MAYBE? They tend to be so bad on race in general though that I don't really have high hopes lol. Like I don't think they're intentionally sitting there writing things that are vaguely racist, but it's more like they try and pretend the race issues aren't there at all. (Like how black slaves/servants from the past are "handmaidens" and now close friends - O RLY.)

Oh, I heart you so much. All the commentary I've read has been upsetting me so much. What the hell, fandom? I'm sick of Elena being vilified while Damon is sainted.
