Wouldn't Greek immigrants from Euboia have reached Ischia around the 8th Century BC ("Before Christ") rather than the 8th Century AD ("Anno Domini")?

In my mind it was Ante Domini, as we write in Italy. Sorry.

Ah. Then for years after Christ's birth, do you write P.D., for "Post Domini?"

No, we don't. We write D.C., "dopo Cristo".
We have 2 different modes to write B.C.
A.C. "Avanti Cristo"
A.D. "Ante Domini"

2 different modes to write the years after Christ's birth:
D.C. "Dopo Cristo"
E.V. "Era Volgare"

A.D. is also "Anno Domini", but you have to understand the contest of the phrase to read it.
Unlike the most part of the world's tongues, the Italian language is based on a sort of contextual comprehension. For example, we usually don't use the subject. You must understand the phrase to recognize the subject. Thus it is for a large part of initials, as I wrote before.
One of the most usual errors of an Italian who is speaking or writing English or German language is the omission of the subject, for the reason I explained you.

You live in such a beautiful place!
But I imagine sometimes with all the
tourists it can be difficult? Is it
quite expensive to stay in Ischia?
I have many friends from Naples who
tell of holidays there, good times.
I am hoping once I retire that I can
afford to make one more trip to Europe.
You share such lovely things about
where you live and we get a little
history lesson, too!

I'm glad you enjoy them. I hope you'll have the possibility to visit my isle in the future. Ischia isn't expensive, you can choose among a lot of special offers, too, every month. View here:

Maestro, these are beautiful images of a truly beautiful place that is resonant with ancient history. My favorite is the sauna! Good way to sweat out all the stress.

I had not the sauna-photo, sorry. If I'll find it, surely I'll put on LJ. I love that sauna so much (and I need it so much :)
