It was a shock then, five years later, when Rath was sent to treat a woman he recognized. He arrived too late; the woman died, but not before a moment of recognition passed between them and she looked towards her daughter, the eleven-year old Pearle. Horrified and ashamed but hiding all of it behind a mask of quiet grief, Rath took Pearle with him back to the Citadel and explained to her bluntly and coldly that he was her father, and she would be living in Cita's halls now. The sheer fact that he'd produced a daughter out of wedlock (and he's never doubted that Pearle is his) was enough to shame him into kindling a quiet hatred for her. Languages Known: English, Latin, some crude Italian and Spanish. Skills: A skilled healer, decent cook (of the bachelor food variety, nothing fancy), a good orator and (more often) a good delegator, and can still drink most men under the table. Strengths: Has a voice that could make a wolverine purr, can keep a cool head in the face of trouble, brutally honest, and very devoted to his God. Weaknesses: Relies heavily on routine for comfort, has difficulty empathizing with others, absolutely no combat skills and the defensive reflexes of a rock, and refuses to accept any viewpoints that differ from his own.
