Linkage of the Day

Just wanted to take a minute and give you all this link. It's the recent story of a surfer that was saved from a Great White by a ring of dolphins. I find the whole thing completely fascinating, especially since tales of dolphins rescuing humans can be found in some of the oldest cultures. (There's my Anthrogeek coming out.) Ooh, I'm glad you posted that second link. I only recently heard about the strike, but I agree with most of Kring’s logic (not that I wouldn't watch Heroes anyway). They can't write romance. At all. :(

I know. The romance on that show has being just GUH. I hope they start focusing on the action rather than the romance.

Wow, that's really strange behavior from the shark, too. I wonder if there was something wrong with it.

Yeah, it sounds like it! White sharks tend to stop attacking once they figure out it's a human and thus not an ideal food source, but perhaps this one was sick or weak and desperate for food. Who knows.

The dolphins were definitely cool, though. They do some really interesting things.

Eee, I hate stories of shark attacks because it tends to make people assume that all sharks are really out to get 'em. Or that being in the water is facing death itself.

That said, this story was very cool. Dolphins are a lot smarter (and kinder) than I thought--and I already held them in high esteem before. :) Thanks for the link.
