So, who here is worried about the economy? I guess I'm not worried about it because there's not a lot I can do. I do wonder, though, if we might end up repeating history. Hopefully not. I would rather not live to see WW3. WW2 was bad enough, but our capacity to destroy has grown considerably since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ours is a world of ( Read more... )

I sort of am but I can't say much because I'm not too knowledgable about the economy. Although I wish the crisis will get resolved somehow. I certainly don't want to see WWIII. We have a lot of weapons that could wipe everything out.

Fortunately, you are still at an age where the impact is probably not as severe as it would be for someone who has investments or a retirement fund or other such things. So I would definitely not worry about it too much if I were you. :} It could be good to learn something from this experience when you don't have as much pressure as you probably will later in life ( ... )

It doesn't influence me much. In my country the economy is always bad and people complain all the time. Where are you from?

Greece, right? I admit, I know almost nothing about your country... Most of my knowledge of Greece is rooted in ancient mythology, so I give myself a failing grade for my contemporary knowledge. :( What would you say are some of the major industries in your country?

I am from the unpopular United States. We're so unpopular, we don't even like ourselves! We didn't even wait a century before falling into civil war. That's how unpopular we are. ;)

I think that those who begin a war cannot be described as humans.

In college, I had a history teacher who made the memorable observation that when two countries go to war, it's no longer a matter of which side is right or wrong from a moral/objective standpoint. It's reduced to a matter of, "Who fights better?"

Tourism is one of the major industries. Especially in the summer.

*nods* I feel this is slightly similar to the U.S. Right now, I think the entertainment industry is one of the major ones for our country... That's fine, but it doesn't really yield something necessary or tangible. At the end of the day, whether you watch a TV show or movie doesn't amount to very much... So I think that's one of the problems we have. I'm admittedly not too knowledgeable even with my own country's industry, but I can tell you that right now it would probably be beneficial to put more focus on industries that yield tangible results. Technology sector is probably somewhere that could really benefit our economy... Medical sector is another... These sectors yield much more tangible/useful results than movie production. :}
