Voice message to Tina Chapel gold_ambition March 4 2010, 17:11:35 UTC
Tina?

Pause, muffled obscenities

Tina, this is James. I realize you probably don't want to talk to me right now, but I didn't know who else to call. I don't know what I said in my note, or what anyone's told you, but please hear me out. Jim Kirk has tied me to a chair and left me in my room. Whatever he thinks I've done, I'm sure this is unwarranted. Look, I'll do anything you want. And I am sorry about the other night. I just...

Pause. When his voice resumes, it is somewhat small.

Please let me out?

Since it wasn't marked as an emergency communication, Tina didn't get James's message until she checked her messages at the end of her shift. And even then, knowing he'd been waiting for a while - tied to a chair? - she was tempted to ignore it.

But, she wasn't that person, she admitted with a sigh.

So she found James's quarters and let herself in. Yep. He was tied to a chair. Naked. And his room was a mess. Like an alcoholic tornado had gone through.

"Wow," she said.

James had been glaring, quite strenuously, at nothing. And wondering about his decision to call Tina. The more sober he felt, the worse the idea seemed. And yet.

He had to piss something fierce.

And it would be a test, of sorts. Of whether she'd really forgiven him for... for whatever it was he'd thought she might be angry for. When she entered, his scowl cleared though he was no less desperate in his appearance.

"You came," he said gratefully. And then the scowl resume. "I'm sorry you had to see this."

"I've seen you without any clothes on before," Tina said. "Or were you talking about the state of your housekeeping?"

She nudged one of the empty liquor bottles with her toe, then stooped to pick it up and carry it to the recycler. "I think you're actually messier than I am."
