I found a new favorite blog.  'Tis amazing.  Perhaps the best summary of said blog (and new favorite quote): "

Wow. And here I thought Mark Strand was my own personal private poet lol. Hurrah for others celebrating his words. :)

The blog is pretty good about introducing some of the lesser-known poets. I'll be honest though - I read the rest of the poem that I posted the excerpt from and didn't understand a single word. I just walked away going "???". I don't think that's ever happened to me when reading a poem before lol - it was very disconcerting! But I loved the first part that I quoted, so I'm just going to re-read that passage lol. I'll have to check out some of his other stuff though - he sounds really good!

I took an "Intro to Poetry" class my freshman year at USF (oh hey .. my only year at USF lol) and this was written on the board one day when I went into the classroom. Sadly, the professor hadn't put it there - one of my fellow students did. It has stayed with me, lo all these many years. :)
