She should have sued for breach of copyright (ie, publishing her work without permission).

Seriously - the opinions were of the GIRL, not necessarily that of her family... sounds like the people in her town were idiots, for wanting to hold a grudge 'cause OMG someone didn't want to live in small town America :P

But yeah, yer right, lol.

It's not really defamation if it's something that she wrote herself.

If she wanted privacy, she shouldn't have posted it on the internet. I'm glad the court was able to recognize that.
