On Fridays I post Challenges and I let them go until the next Saturday (so there is a good week and a day for icons to come in).
Throughout the week you post reminders ( I do it on Wednesdays to Friday and a final one Saturday.) I can post voting because I do that all the time (I set time for it...I'm a dork.)
If you could post a challenge every OTHER week (I do it one week, and then you do it another...etc.) Here is a copy/paste for you to use.

- comment with your icons (6 MAX) & a link to it. - remember that your icon must fit within lj regulations - less than or equal to 40k/100x100 pixels. - use only these pictures - blending and animation is allowed - comments are screened. - voting will be posted next SATURDAY, MONTH/DAY @ 11:59 pm PST
