Do you want your posts to be locked "friends only" or only friends can reply to any posts you put up? Btw, really good to meet you this past Saturday, although briefly, in the circle. Welcome to the insanity that is Pastimes...you'll love it! :)

I want to control who gets to read my posting, so by extension, who can reply to them,

Currently you are posting publicly. When you post to LJ there is option below the msg box which says, "You're looking at the simple page. For more options, click here." When you click on that you'll see a pull down option for security level. You need to make that "friends only" for each post you make. I think there maybe a way to set it so every post automatically goes to "friends only" but I've not discovered it yet. Under your user info there is option which allows only friends to reply ~but~ if you aren't locking it for "friends only" anyone can read it. Hope that made sense! :)
