He'd spent an hour trying to shift into his darker half's body with only a migraine to show for it. The Marauder stirs from its irritated sulk, peering as much as it can. Here I thought the only ones that knew were your family, it mutters in mild amusement.
He shakes his head a little. "With all due respect, I like being in an unknown land less. I... we can handle the answers, whatever they are."

If it helps, he's not in the mood for a squabble.
Phoenix has bumped into a couple of people, and now at least has some clue about the gods of this world. The more he hears, the more he wants to find out about this Theo guy. He's been directed to The Silver Eye, and is on his way, when he stops to watch the bloke who’s thwacking the ground and arguing with himself. There’s a brief sense of something other about the being, which is kind of a relief. It means he hasn’t lost every trace of his mind skills.
Or his memory.

There's a little niggling twinge in the back of his brain, from the Beast's cage. Don't make me tell you, breed.
"Yes, I believe you might." He cautiously closes the gap between them. "Grint Halla-Barra. We spoke once or twice, if you are who I think you are?"

"Phoenix Kaelen." He's grinning, pleased to see the guy, and trying to recall whichever parent Ash used to call which name. "Bloody long time ago, for me, but I remember you, and the name... Ash's dad?"

He nods. "Exactly. Right pronoun and everything." He grins in return; even some of his own relatives get it wrong. "I'm guessing it hasn't been so long since I saw you... or a you, rather."
