I feel like today was really long for some reason. Not in a bad way, just that this morning seems like a reaaaaaally long time ago, lol. Probably just because I did a lot of different stuff ( Read more... )

family, aiba, rant, dbsk, friends, random, dramas, arashi, lulz

I don't know, I don't think I could over get into K-anything. It's not prejudice or something like that, it's just a totally different culture. I've been exposed to Japanese culture since I was a toddler (my mom used to rent anime videos for me and fed me Pocky hahaha~) I feel like it'd be such a huge shift and... I guess I don't have the time to deal with it hahaha.

It is. It's like, I'd have to start studying a totally different language if I switched to kpop, haha. I obviously wasn't introduced to Japanese culture as long ago as you were, but that's kind of how I feel too.

Well about your Point #2, you shouldn't worry about it too much. People tend to fluctuate between fandoms a lot especially in the kpop/jpop world I guess. Like when JE-wank starts acting up everyone is like "SCREW THIS I'M GOING BACK TO MY KOREAN BOY BANDS" while when Kpop netizens or w/e do something totally heinous everyone really misses the JE "Member-ai". I've abandoned some aspects of JE to be sure, but Arashi will always be my little fandom home. <3 ( ... )

I guess it's like, I don't get it, since I'm pretty devoted to my fandom. Ah well~

True. I've been in fandom long enough that I should know better by now, haha. I remember when Yamapi and Ohno were both up for best actor for Maou and Code Blue, respectively, and there was this whole "don't let the Arashi fans win!" thing going on in NEWS fandom and I was just like...really? But Ohno won and so I felt like there was some justice in the world, haha.

I just checked out the comments being left for Ellen, and they are utterly embarrassing. The concept itself is interesting; I think it's great that she wants to expand her music tastes and is using her large fanbase for suggestions. But it's ridiculous that people are spamming her like mad, or arguing withing comments whether this Korean boy band is better than this Korean boy band because so-and-so has a buttface- yes, I'm not even kidding, one person said that. And some people are acting like Ellen's saying, "I have the power to bring your favorite bands from overseas to my show with the swing of my magic wand!" She just wants music ( ... )

So many psycho fangirls. I'm like, okay, most likely, she just plays a song or music video or something on the show. And seeing these crazy fangirls duking it out will probably make her and her staff NOT want to introduce those groups on the show. Lulz at someone calling a kpop singer a buttface. Yay, maturity!

I like my failboat idols, haha. But yeah, there just seems to be this JE ---> kpop trend that I kind of understand and also kind of don't. I guess I'm not as fickle in my fandoms as some other people? Your fandom is different, haha.

Doing what I can! I miss you too. If there is any justice in this world, I'll make it to Japan before you leave. Also, maybe buy a can of air freshener.

Agreeing with others about the Ellen thing. Any time there is a fandom post about MINNA-SAN PLAESE VOTE 4 ARASHI OR U R A BAD FAN!!!!!!!1111 I steer clear. I don't think me voting for Arashi on xyz thing makes me a better fan.

I barely have enough time for JE since I've become such a j-drama junkie. I'd never have time for Korean stuff too. There's so much about Japanese culture and nuances that I still don't know, so having to learn all about Korean (or any other culture's nuances) would be time that I literally do not have since I, you know, have a full-time job outside of fandom!!

Seriously. The only reason I even bothered this time was because it's not voting (contrary to how people are apparently treating it), and because it actually has to do with America. No offense, but I don't really care about Arashi's exposure in some random country that I do not live in.

Exactly. I only have time for one fandom, which is why, even though I've dabbled a bit in DBSK, I'll never become a full-fledged fan. I try to strike a balance between fandom and dramas as it is, which is why I all but abandoned anime years ago. ^_^;;

Yeah I think I'm pretty much the same. I don't think I can get into K-○○. Japanese-related stuff somehow was subconsciously given to me since I was a baby so it's kind of rooted until now, I guess? So even if I ever get into those K-pop thing, it's very temporary and after a while I'll get bored of it. (laughs) Their fandom seems to have loads of problems and wanks too, so I don't know if I can stand those.

I haven't watched Saigo no Yakusoku either... orz

Same here, except it doesn't go quite so far back for me. But having a half-Japanese best friend influenced me, and man, once she introduced me to dramas and JE, I latched on almost right away. It was meant to be, lol. And yeah, kpop seems to have a lot of wank... I will pass on that.

lol, I'll watch it eventually! I kind of want to dl the HQ version from Stormy. Apparently I think there's no limit to my hard drive space... orz
