Padding along the pavement by the river, Yoruichi was of the opinion that the grass positively stank at this time of the day. Something which, of course, added to the underlying unease that had been bugging her for the better part of the day. Something was wrong; she had no idea what that particular something was as yet, but she sure as hell was going to find out. If this was yet another of Aizen's twisted ploys...
Her tail flicking almost dangerously, the movements betraying her inner agitation, the feline paused for a moment as another presence registered itself, another familiar reiatsu amidst a stronger, stranger presence that were neither Hollow nor arrankar. Question was, what was i--
Halting in her steps, Yoruichi stared in surprise, bright gold eyes widening as she took in the scene before her. Rukia was staring at a young man - well actually, that was probably not as important as the thing that was at his side.
Shinigami, she realized almost immediately, stunned at the revelation. They had become rare, even when Soul

[Light] Careful is my middle name. Or would be, if the Japanese used middle names.kidboomerangOctober 25 2006, 20:23:45 UTC
What, exactly, the boy's next move was going to be was something preoccupying the boy, as well. In the space of time it took Light to bend down to retrieve the ruined half-eaten apple from its resting place, dry dead blades of grass clinging brokenly to the gashes his own teeth had gouged, half a dozen scenarios flashed behind his eyelids and were discarded

[Temp!Ryuk] My middle name would be apples!keikainOctober 27 2006, 13:53:15 UTC
Hooo, now this was interesting, indeed. Ryuk lifted unnatural eyes to meet the girl's. There were shinigami all over the place, it seemed. Although, judging by her expression, she wasn't quite used to dealing with his kind at all. It was almost amusing.
A sweeping glance downward to his human companion proved that Light had caught sight of her, too, and he wasn't just plotting how to snag her phone number by any means. It seemed that Ryuk would have some pointless explaining to do very soon if Light wasn't satisfied with the girl's reaction.
"More apples? How about one now?" he pressed, keeping pace with his companion with long, easy strokes of his wings, "I've had a busy morning, you know."
[Rukia] I don't have a middle name, though I've heard from many that my brother's is "Prissy Ass."lucindathemaidOctober 29 2006, 21:06:36 UTC
Rukia took great care to do a number of things as she stood by the river, frozen to the spot, seemingly cool and unaffected to the average eye. The first, and most important, was to keep her gaze pointedly away from the sandy-haired boy’s, as well as his otherworldly companion’s. If she could see the latter, there was little doubt that the both of them could discern her own spiritual presence; actually locking eyes with either of them would not improve her situation in the least, so if there was even the slightest chance that all of the glaring, screaming signs she’d picked up could be wrong, she need to cling to it and keep her eyes averted.
The second thing was to keep her mind clear, to act professionally and independently; her Shinigami (and substitute-Shinigami) companions were nowhere near her, so if she was to act, she needed to act efficiently, and alone.
This, however, was immediately shot as she heard a purr, saw out of the corner of her eye an all too familiar black form sit down beside her.

Rukia smiled very faintly.
