The mass deletion of livejournal accounts over the past twenty-four hours has sickened me completely. Not because of the aim, which was to remove communities and accounts of people who are interested in paedophilia and/or rape in real life, but because of the utterly shallow way it was carried out

I became aware of it only because I'm in a lot of fandoms, one of them Harry Potter - and it was hit quite hard by the deletions, since obviously age is an issue in that world, among other things (incest-fic is common, for example). One of the communities deleted was an archive with four years' worth fic on it. And this fic was pretty much exclusively posted there.

Sigh. We can only hope LJ will actually fix this somehow.

yeah, I've lost Fanfic before due to server crashes. 2 years worth of online RP for about 40 people... I miss having it as an archive.
