So I couldn't find The Hitchhiker's Guide. Actually, there really wasn't much in the way of finding. I knew where it was all along: it's in a giant Rubbermaid container which is buried under many other Rubbermaid containers in my garage. I said "Fuck it." So now I'm reading Shogun by James Clavell. I give it to the Samurai. Good Katana's could cut through plate, and even mediocre ones could probably pierce plate.

well, I disagree with katanas being able to cut through plate, but I'd still have to give it to the samurai. First off, plate mail wasn't invented until the late 1400's or something, the late medieval period, whereas the samurai were wielding katanas around long before then. And a Katana could easily pierce, though not slice, chain or ring, which the japs also had. I'd give it to the samurai just because their fighting style is so much more sophisticated. Not to say that medieval knights and such weren't well trained or good fighters or anything, they were, particularly the french, but a samurai made an art out of all of that, especially during the Tokugawa (1500's to 1868). Samurai were also trained at mounted archery, a tactic that proved devastating when the europeans used it (though Ghangis Khan really examplified how much ass one can kick with mounted archers). In general, samurai just made more of an art out of combat, they revered it more, and so I would give the fight to them ( ... )

I remember "This Book Sucks." I don't own it, but I do own "Beavis and Butthead's Encyclopedia."
