You know what's weird...before 9-11, my students (who were too young to remember the Challenger Explosion, which of course was the event our generation remembers so vividly) would answer "the death of Princess Di" as the defining tragedy in their lifetimes. That was so odd to me...I remember being somewhat shocked, but I spent most of that night putting together a filing cabinet with Chelle as we watched the updates, laughing about the odd instructions. It did not feel like a defining moment at all. Guess they didn't have anything to compare it to, then.
