I've heard several people mention "Torchwood" sense I've started perusing LJ and other forums, but have never heard anything about it. What's it about? Sell me on it's awesomeness ;)
Okay, I love Torchwood the same way I love Journey and Bon Jovi: without shame or guilt, but not easily understood except by other fans. I believe most of the appeal has to lie in John Barrowman, who is a two-dimensional actor at best - great with saucy sarcasm, adventurous shenanigans, and sexy flirting, but lacking depth when anger, grief, or rage are called for - but has so much fucking charisma I can't seem to mind.
On top of that, it's fun. There are aliens, government conspiracies, sexual peccadilloes galore. The characters are great, the plots are preposterous, oh, and there's this:
This miniseries is so superior to either of the past two seasons content-wise, I am blown away (most likely because Russell T. Davies wrote most of it, I believe - kind of like when Joss wrote Buffy, you could just tell, you know?). The Husband is having trouble appreciating it because he likes saucy, sassy, kickass Capt. Jack, not this conspiracy drama, so I told him to think of it as "BBC Does The X-Files" and maybe it'll be better for him.

This is what I didn't say:
