I hate you, new LOCI writers. I hate you so so much.

So, not only has Eames moved, she didn't work Vice before coming to Major case?

The only redeeming quality of this episode was D'Onofrio's acting. That is all I have to say for now.

loci, wtf

Thank you! I was very confused as to how she worked this case...maybe it was one of her first cases at MCS? IDK I was very confused by that and the address change -- okay maybe she moved, but I don't buy it. To me she's the type of person too stuborn to move...I think on principal she wouldn't have moved.

Now I think because I was expecting the worst this episode wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and did at least enjoy some of the G/E interaction and goren being more goren-like than he has in quite a while.

I didn't much see the leap of the DA to cross dresser -- it seemed like a less clever version of "Maledictus" (i think that's the right one)

I have basically decided to view this season as fanfiction.

The DA as murderer? Saw it in the first 5 minutes. That the murderer was a crossdresser? Saw that in the first 5 seconds. The DA as crossdressing murderer? Fanfiction.

HAHA.

See, I think that's part of my problem with the weak case files -- I don't want to see something I could read from a fan fic writer or one I could come up with and pull off in my own mediocrity. I want them to be far better than me.

And why do all of the L&O detectives have to be related to, involved with, something with someone who ends up being a murderer...or some kind of criminal? Is it in the Wolfe handbook? I was kinda hoping it was the wife who was supposed to be dead...not any less fanfiction-y, but at least not the DA.

I failed to notice either of those two major major bloopers, on account of my being obsessed with Vincent D'Onofrio's acting. I think, if I were Kathryn Erbe, I might be a "tad ticked off" (yes, you can add 400% on top of that to adjust for typical British reserve & understatement) at how a story that is purportedly about MY character still manages to get hijacked by The Noff.

But I still loved to see Goren in such very, very good form. I find myself a D'Onofrio fan first and everything else in joint second place.

(Except Gabriel Byrne)

It was a pleasure to see Goren acting so very, very Goren-like. So, now that the writers finally got him down, let's see what they can do with the rest, eh?

My impression was this was her first MCS case. I myself enjoyed the episode. For once scrambling Eames' life up instead of Bobby's. Refreshing.

Vincent was magnificent as always, playing the part of confusion, disbelief and finally allowing her to make the arrest. He never once behaved as if he believed her capable of planting evidence or murder. All with the use of his tone and face--not needing words. The man can act.

I thought it well-written and acted by all. But that's just me.

I see your point of view and can almost agree with you on your assessment, but it felt false to me, that after 8 years and everything they had been through together, she immediately became defensive when Goren asked her what were routine questions about the past case. That felt like forced drama for the sake of the show, not a true reaction based upon the characters we know.

Don't you think she'd be taken a bit aback to have him ask her such a question about her sex life? Basing this on their partnership, not some fan fiction propaganda..,(and weren't they partners 3 years when the show started so that would make them together 12?

Remember how infuriated Bobby was at their checking into his financial affairs in FRAME?

I'm honestly not certain how long Goren and Eames were partners before the start, but if it had been 12 years, then Goren would have been on the same case (which was in 1999). His defensiveness in "Frame" made sense to me, given that a check into his financial affairs indicated a suspicion of him for the murders.

Eames' defensiveness that I'm referring to was in regards to the case, not Bobby's question as to her sexual relationship with the ADA. It's not that I have a problem with the defensiveness, but it felt out of place, given the circumstances of the current case could be related to the previous one (which in many ways shows how much I hate TV, because it doesn't really follow the logic chain of real life, but that's just me.)
