Just a couple of things to remind everyone I'm still alive (because I'm pathetic like that)

I hope everyone had a fine weekend. I was able to move beyond the anxiety and stress of having OMG Strangers! in my house by ogling men in kilts yesterday at the Austin Celtic Festival, which was okay. I mean, I had my share of that festival staple - funnel cake (and who thought of that, because as delicious as it is there isn't a less convenient ( Read more... )

Jeeves in the early afternoon...yay!!!
ok, your icon, tell me about it, what is it from, is that a polar bear??? I can barely see it.
you see, somewhere in the back of my mind I have this image of a young girl (topless..or at least scantily clad but not in a naughty way) riding on the back of a bear..and I'm trying to remember what that image is from....
and your icon looks really close!!!

The icon is an illustration from the fairy tale East of the Sun, West of the Moon. I haven't tried to make it clearer, but I love that drawing of the polar bear. I'm using it now because it's thematic for two stories I'm writing at the moment.

Have you seen / do you have the Mercer Mayer version of EotSWotM? It's so pretty.

I have seen it. Mercer Mayer is one of my favorite illustrator/writers of kids books!

And I'm certain we can all list what Nicholas and Danny give to each other.
First response: cooties. Second response: really awkward Christmas presents.

I'm trying to think of a HF fic in which Danny or Nicholas come out worse for having known the other, but it's not coming. Which is a shame, because for all that I think that the two of them should be joined at the hip, I think it would be very easy for Danny's naivete and sweetness to become sullied by Nicholas' recklessness and suspicion, and I think that it would be easy for Sandford to soften Nicholas and lead him to resent himself. Wait, stelluci wrote a fic where the easy life in Sandford just wore Nicholas down, and in his vague depression he hurt Danny. I don't think she finished it though.

I think it would be very easy for Danny's naivete and sweetness to become sullied by Nicholas' recklessness and suspicion...I think Danny's naivete and sweetness has been tested first by the events at the end of the film. Finding out most of your life is a big fat lie and that your dad is a murdering nutjob can change a person. So while I think this is an interesting concept, I believe the seeds for change in Danny would have already been sown ( ... )
