Blurgh

I love it when I finally get the chance to read a novel I've been looking forward to reading and I'm not too crazy about it.  I do.  Especially when said novel has won awards and shit.  It makes me feel less like sheep.

I read books and watch TV and stuff... )

loci, reading, books, easter isn't the only fruit

But...But...it was Batista from "Dexter"! (the Lieutenant that is). Though I can understand without the Dexter bias how he would fall flat (of course I find most of the characters in CI that Walon Green writes fall flat...including the characters who have been there forever).

And seriously about the women turn over -- what the hell is Mariska Hargaty paid to make her stick around for so long. Also is anyone else bothered by the fact Burrows looks like a runway ready version of Eames? I'm just saying...

Also, I hope everything is okay...as far as why the Easter celebration will be more quiet than usual. We had a really nice service this pass Sunday regarding spring and Rev. Logan, who is actually a baptsit minister (who is the church's business manager) gave an interesting sermon called "spiritual, but not religious."

**Hugs** -- you know I like to listen if you want to talk or email or you know whatever...

See, I don't watch Dexter, so I have no context. I would rather they had pulled one of the regulars who randomly play victims or witnesses. That would have been awesome. Angie DiMarco as the Loo from the D's office! You know you want it.

Mariska Hargitay has been paid enough to cover her bad facework. I think it's sad because she used to be beautiful. Now she can only make one expression, and that usually translates to "constipated concern" in my brain.

Greek tradition forbids celebrating, dancing, and whatnot, when a family is in mourning. My Aunt's family lost a cousin on Friday. It's terribly sad, especially for my cousins, so I'll not whine about losing the celebration at her house. Thanks for the offer, though. I'm okay.

DUDE! You are so right. She was good in every episode she was in...even the crappy one last season.

...and constipated concern -- I think that's what I've been trying to muster as to why I don't like her. Its like Tom Welling on Smallvile -- I can't watch it because he has one damn expression and it's like deer in headlights.

And I'm sorry to here about your family's loss. <3

Thank you. It's been kind of a crap week, but at least I have bitching about LOCI to momentarily cheer me.

I've heard rumblings about Eternal and thought to put it on my list, but the book you describe sounds creepy in all the WRONG ways. What is is, the old "Guardian falls in love with his child ward" trope cast in angelic glamour? Ugh. For the record, I hate that when they do it in SPN fic too (where Castiel has been watching over Dean from childhood, etc. etc. No, I do NOT find that romantic, kthnxbai).

Sorry to hear that Easter celebrations have been called off, and that the reasons are tragic. *hugs*

Copious amounts of reading will help, though, I endorse that plan!

I'm going to try this one next:

Or this one:

As I said, angels are the new vampires are the new fairies are the new...

IDK. There was a lot of skeevy relationship-building in Star Wars fandom as well. For some reason, it didn't bother me as much as it probably should have. I guess I'm as much a twisted hypocrite as the next perv. :)
