I often don't quite 'get' AU stories, but you've done really well with this one. It's a lovely translation of the essential bits into a very different context, with enough addition of new material to make it into something different and original, and I quite enjoyed it.

I happen to love AU stories. If they're well done, they bring to light the best parts of the source material (characterization and setting for me when it comes to HF), while at the same time opening up that material for a little playfulness. I could only hope I would do justice to source material I love so much.
