Rodney let himself carefully into the room. Even in his exhaustion he was careful to close the door softly to make as little noise as possible. After standing for a moment, his eyes adjusted enough to see in the dim moonlight that filtered through the balcony doors. The clear, calm night belied the chaos of earlier in the day when they came tumbling home through the Stargate.
Rodney ghosted to the bathroom, closing the door before he turned on the light. He removed his clothes and splashed some water on his face. The shower he had taken earlier in the infirmary would do -- he needed to sleep.
Piling his clothes in a corner to make sure they were out of the way, Rodney turned off the light and waited a ten-count to let his eyes adjust before opening the door. He threaded his way across the room and carefully climbed into the bed.
John stirred as Rodney arranged himself in the bed. "Shhh..." Rodney whispered, wrapping an arm around the sleeping man. Carson only let John out of the infirmary on the condition he go to his room and sleep. Rodney wriggled a bit more to maximize contact between them. John nestled into his arms and sighed soundlessly.
Stop scaring me like that, Rodney thought as he placed a kiss on John’s head and followed him into sleep.
