THIS DICK GRAYSON IS FROM MILLERVERSE, from All-Star Batman and Robin, the Boy Wonder. Basically: he is as much as usual Dick as the Goddamn Batman acts like a regular Batman.
His background shall tell you every thing you need to know:
When Dick Grayson was twelve, he was in the acrobatic group "The Flying Graysons" with his parents. Bruce Wayne, at the time, was taking an interest in the kid, considering eventually trying to draft him into his war when he was older.
The plan to wait for Dick to grow up failed when, one night, during a performance which Bruce Wayne was attending, Dick's parents were killed in front of him. Dick went into total shock then, not reacting when cops took him away. Instead of bringing him to the hospital or anywhere remotely logical, the policemen dragged him to the middle of nowhere to beat him up so he couldn't testify against his parents' killer (who also happened to be a police officer).
That's when Batman showed up and kidnapped him.
They escaped from the police and drove to the Cave. Batman drugged Dick during this car ride and hit him when the kid freaked out, setting the tone of their relationship-to-be already.
Batman then left Dick in the Cave and eventually went slightly crazy over Alfred when the butler gave something to eat to Dick. He had wanted Dick to hunt rats for food.
After leaving Dick alone for quite a while in the Cave, Batman finally came back with Dick's parents' killer and told him to kill him and become an avenger or not kill him and become a detective. Of course, he became a detective and his first act as one was to interrogate the man until he told him who had hired him to kill his parents. The answer he gave Dick was The Joker. (Sadly, this part is never explained in canon.)
Dick was suddenly very willing to work for the guy who had kidnapped him and asked tons of information from Batman about the Joker, and this eventually led to him becoming Robin so he could keep up Batman's investigations and work with him to stop the Joker. This quickly spread out to being Batman's sidekick and being treated like an employee.
Quickly, Dick had to go along with the fact Batman wanted to meet Green Lantern. During this meeting, Dick and Batman mocked the superhero, stole his ring, and Dick fought against him, nearly killing him. Batman proceeded to beat Dick up before saving Green Lantern's life. As they were leaving the place, Dick thought to himself "I almost killed a man tonight. A man who never did me any harm. And I enjoyed every second of it. More than I've ever enjoyed anything. I wanted to kill him."
And thus Dick became a twelve-year-old kid with bloodlust.
Batman thought it was maybe due to the fact he hadn't digested his parents' death and brought him to their grave. With that, Dick became very close to Batman and they hugged. This was basically Dick grasping at what he could... and this had to be a man who had been abusing him since the first minute they met.
He became Robin full-time about a month later and proceeded to help Batman save Catwoman, meet Jim Gordon, and meet Superman.
