Maurice huddled into his cloak, shivering in the damp chill of the cell. He was so cold. So cold. It was very dark and he could barely see his hand inches in front of his face.
He could hear the Beast somewhere in the castle. That inhuman roar. He trembled from fear as well as the draught. What would happen to him? Would anyone come looking for him? He sat up with a start. Belle! He hoped she wouldn’t do anything rash, like come looking for him. He would never be able to forgive himself if something happened to her.

It was a miserable night, pouring with rain. I noticed a castle and decided to shelter there. I took the guise of an old woman - such a feeble appearance usually guarantees me board for the night. I offered my traditional rose in payment and waited for the sympathy. However, this Prince was different: arrogant, proud and vain. He refused that simple act of charity, so I decided to use my power in revenge. I revealed myself as the Enchantress I am and turned him into a hideous beast and all his staff into household objects.
I sheltered at an Inn.

People have always wanted to be associated with me because of my good looks and money. Even Lefou only sticks around because I'm 'Gaston', Big and Strong. The village girls don't even try to know me, they take one look and swoon. Except for Belle. I always had to work to get her attention, be noticed. But she rejected me, publicly humiliated me! Now I'm surrounded by people trying to comfort me. But never to know me. No, never to know me. And I will have my revenge upon the girl who made me realise how lonely I really am.
