my team would consist of charizard, venasaur, blastoise, electrode, golom and i don't know what my 6th would be. it was a revolving door back when i played red version. i had beedrill (in protest against butterfree, which my brother used and kicked my ass with), hitmonlee (weak against the psychics) and probably another one i can't remember right now. i think i'd go with gengar now, since he was cool when i used my bro's in his copy of the new games. :/
