A really 'nice' depiction of christmas at the Device/Pulsifer household. Cool fic too.

Thank you! I love writing Agnes and Anathema. I'm glad I got the chance to do it again in this exchange.

I rather love this a lot, for some inexplicable reason.

Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you do - I don't think these particular characters always get the amount of love they deserve!

Aww, I love the link between their lives, so far separated.

Obviously this is really dense of me, considering she had a whole line of descendants, but I'd never considered Agnes's family life. The details you've put in here are lovely, especially the boys beings more likely to throw things into the well.

And I like the idea of Anathema's vegan-friendly biscuits :-)

All that we really know is that, at the time of her death, Agnes left behind a grown son, John Device. Given that he was grown, it makes perfect sense to me that he'd have a wife and children - or, if not a wife, at least children *wry grin* Father Christmas loves adorable, well-littering bastards, too!

Thanks so much for reading.

I think Agnes would've been a fantastic grandma. Always knowing what's coming probably makes her as laid-back as you please.

Glad you liked this - many thanks!

Oh, this is lovely! It's sort of . . . cozy, really? Which I suppose is an odd description to apply to Agnes (complete with soldiers coming to take her away, for goodness sakes), but . . . I really enjoy the attitude/personality of both generations of witches. And the repetition; the sense of tradition and family, annoying or not. ;)

It's so great to have something Anathema(/Agnes)-centric. I really think she's a bit underrepresented in this fandom! And there's even historical background involved! Thank you so much, Secret Author, I love my gift.

I decided to take some interesting liberties with the Agnes bit - we're not really told at what time of year the authorities take her away, so I thought, hmmm, why not at Christmas, and why not with her son snoring in the other room like one's menfolk are so often want to do around the holidays, and why not with her grandsons dashing about outside in the cold? Not terribly kind on my part, I suppose, but the thought of her being hauled off not only because she's a witch, but because she's doing something seasonally forbidden on top of it - that adds a bit of irony, I guess (I hope).

I'm quite relieved that you like it; mirror-style pieces almost always demand brevity, les they overburden themselves and move beyond the point they're intended to make (and I had rather hoped to offer you something longer). Thank you!
