I actually had to look up the raising chickens reference using the search function in my e-book copy of GO, because I couldn't for the life of me remember where it figured into things. There are so many tiers of background characters and hidden references, and this is one that had largely escaped my notice. It's pretty cute, what you've done with it here!

As for Jaime, I'm always glad to see him. I was happy to begin making use of him in stories myself, and I'm happy to see others doing it, too. He's honestly the most compelling of the minor-cameo characters we get, IMHO; that scene with the tree/vine in the shopping center is memorable in the same way that I find the Ifrit episode in American Gods memorable. There's something about short-story/flash-fiction-esque interludes in Gaiman's work that really, really works for him. I don't have 100% confirmation on this by any stretch, but I have always had the uncanny feeling that Jaime's section of the novel is a section Gaiman wrote. Anyway, that was an unplanned tangent! oooh, as I mentioned above, I had to do the same thing! The source book is so rich in characters - both minor and leading. I know as a fandom we tend to focus on Aziraphale and Crowley but I appreciated the prompt as a challenge to break out of that paradigm and try something new.

Oh, wow, this is brilliant. (And I have learned much about poultry!) ODEGRA HOT SAUCE AHAHAHAHAHA PERFECT. Yes, yes, that cracking logo absolutely needed to appear. And I love the enmity between Roman and Nigel Barlow, all the sitcomesque deep dislike between them, but when push comes to shove, Remus helps him out and his brother approves, rather than resenting it. Awwww. And I loved Doreen, too.

AND JAIME! <3 I must confess, I adore Jaime and was so glad you chose to make use of him here! His relationship with his granddaughter is beautiful and perfect, and beekeeping is the perfect thing for them to end up doing, and agh, I absolutely adore your last line.

Thank you! :)

Dear, I'm so glad you like your gift! I must admit I was quite nervous that I was writing too much minutiae about chickens but hopefully, as with any Pratchett/Gaiman source material, it's the characters that are memorable. Even if the world now knows how to wash a chicken.

I adore Jaime too and thank you for giving me an excuse for filling out his story.

ODEGRA HOT SAUCE must become a thing!

Very, very merry holidays and warm wishes, your secret author!

Yes! I have been thinking very seriously about actually making the hot sauce just because I am curious.
Thank you for your appreciation of the minor characters! It was fun to come up with a story for the 'chicken brothers' and, of course, Jaime deserves a life in the country. :)

This is not what I was expecting! In a good way - I think this fandom gets into ruts, which I'm guilty of contributing to as well, so. Anyway - it's kind of close to my Stereotypical Dream AU, which is animal show AUs, because I show cats, but I have too many friends who are into poultry right now and let me tell you, I feel Remus on all the chickens being the same, because they are. They really, really are. Chicken people = a mystery.

Also: the hot sauce logo is BRILLIANT. I would buy that hot sauce.

I am delighted that you liked the story. Showing cats sounds like a challenge! Do you have to wash them? :D

Short answer: yes!

Long answer: buddy, oh my guy, my dude, friendo. I show Himalayans. My cat is an almighty fluffster (see his Instagram). Grooming is life. Baths are an important part, but it's a daily project, and I'm crazy enough that the only cats I want to own are Himmies, Persians, and maybe an Exotic...
