BRB, dying a little bit from laughter because I did the same thing. I requested "Blackwood Farm," "Blood Canticle," and "Prince Lestat" on ILL last week, because I think the last VC book I read was "Blood & Gold." I was honestly pretty pissed off after "Merrick" (useless Louis-torture: that did not go over well with me), but I'd always thought the first three books made a brilliant trilogy and kind of wish she'd just stopped there. Anyway, I'm not very far into "Blackwood Farm" and can't decide if Tarquin is intriguing or annoying.
/end strange Anne Rice rant
This is one of the sweetest stories to turn up this exchange; your details in the flashbacks are so loving, and there's a very physical, grounded sense to all of this <3

I really wanted to do something loving and evocative of how we remember important things. Particularly how memory acts as this weird other limb of the self that can't be controlled and is for the most part just ignored until it's not operating correctly. I'm so glad that the groundedness worked! For me, the magic of Crowley and Aziraphale is at least 70% the fact that they exist in something approaching the real world and that comes with all the same little vagaries that the rest of us navigate. That mix of prosaicness of life and the poetic nature of them being supernatural is what I LOVE about this book and these characters.

sorry for taking so long, my life during the holidays got very "interesting", but, damn DAMN! I can't stop thanking you and I actually saved this fic on my pc because I wanna read it again and again. Ok how did you know I had had the passing thought of: "yeah, 50 shades of gray is shit, but what would Crowley think of "the Boss" trilogy?", you are a mind reader, and I can't believe you mashed two of my prompts so wonderfully, I feel like this fic has been tailored exactly around me and by someone who, idk how, really got me, really knew what they were doing, you are an amazing author and now that I know who you are I'm so glad because I actually love your writing. If I had to make a list of all the perfect things about this fic I'd be writing for hours. I feel really lucky, this is one of those gifts that I'll cherish forever, it's stunning the thought and care you put in it, I'm forever thankful!!
