Aaaaa, dear secret writer (and I truly have no idea who you are; there are people in this fandom who are unnervingly good at guessing writers, and I am not one of them), I wish I could form better sentences through the fog of my cold!

But instead I think I'll just sort of exclaim things at you: yes, that will work. Here goes:

Ducks!

Super surreal what-is-going-on-here ducks!

Scaly feathers and feathery scales! Colors!

Duck Drama oh my~

Eve!!! Gosh the line about the sword aaaa

Morpheus!(??? I actually love the vagueness of him)

Obsolete meaning of smug, oh how did you know I am a linguistics nerd <333 (and Crowley most definitely IS smug, in multiple senses)

More super surreal ducks!

...And Crowley thinking of Aziraphale all the way through, of course. <3

Anyway, in case you couldn't tell, I love this. Thank you so much!!

I hope you feel better now...

In no particular order:

Ducks: Yep! They can't figure out what they are--rubber ducks, feathery ducks, decoys? Dream logic at its finest, really.

Crowley: He's dreaming of Eden, which means he looks like a snake from before.

Eve: Well, they're in Eden. She is very amused by all of this.

Morpheus: Yes, it's him. Vague just seemed right.

Smug: Also a linguistics nerd, actually, so...and yes, he is. He just isn't going to necessarily admit to some of them.

Aziraphale: I have no idea if they're together (yet) or not in this so I just split the difference and left it up to the reader. Either way it ended up being a yet.

Very nice, slightly surreal story!

BTW, a male duck is a drake and a female duck is a duck. A hen is a female chicken.

Thank you!

'Hen' actually is any female bird--I checked, because 'female duck' would have been clunky, so I wanted to know if there was an alternate. (So yes, all genders specified for ducks in the story are totally intentional.)

Cool story framing and tone throughout! I like the acknowledgement of some of the nastier duck habits... *sniggers at rubber duckies*

Thank you! Getting the tone right was the hardest part, really, and I wasn't sure how the framing would work for people. I like seeing acknowledgment of the nastier duck habits myself, and am glad to know I'm not the only one!

Nature is cool and weird, and frequently unpleasant.
