Ah, so nice to see Newt and Anathema still happily together. :)

Now I'm curious what Anathema will use the nails for, though.

Anathema is resourceful and clever. I'm sure she'll come up with some DIY project befitting the purpose. Thank you so much for reading. This gave me a fair headache till rather close to the deadline, but once I knew what it was going to be, it was a blast to write :-D

Yay, I like it. More Agnes is always good!

Agnes has always, in my view, been one of the novel's best features. For a character who's technically not there in the flesh for more than three quarters of the thing (and even her flashback scenes are brief), her hand is in...gosh, nearly everything.

Thank you! :)

Thank you so much for this story!
It's cheering-- more, it's heartwarming, this constancy of warm affection for her own through the centuries. What a fantastic old lady, what a fantastic old ghost, stern as she may be.
Also, I love how Crowley spaced out his "s"s at Aziraphale's request, from the 3+1 of “Isn’t that ssso?” to the 2+1+1 of “I’m not messing about. I’m serious.”
=D

I'm actually ridiculously thrilled that somebody caught his slight sarcasm with the hissing, as it were ;) Thank you so much for reading, and Happy Holidays to you <3

Oh, Secret Author, thank you thank you thank you! I apologize for being late commenting; I've been pretty busy and wanted to have time to gush properly. So here we go: I love, love, love how you've fleshed out John Device, George Cranby, and Arthur Bychance; we get so little information about them and yet they're perfect. Crowley and Aziraphale not knowing what to do next, other than continuing to drink their weight, works so well, too, and Agnes telling them to start living was brilliant.

Your Agnes in general is brilliant. You nailed the Agnes-speak, which I knoe ys notte an easie thynge, and you also nailed her character perfectly, and I love that she leaves a trail of roofing nails. And I love how Anathema is pretty much resigned to it, and how well she and Newt are getting on. This is perfect, perfect. Also, I'm reading the comments above mine, and let me say this: I'm glad you didn't take my prompt totally literally. You made it your own and created something awesome. Thank you so much!

You're so welcome; thank you for the prompt! I do have a soft spot for ghost stories, although it took me quite a while to figure out what I was going to do (and how I was going to do it). Fleshing out characters we know only in name is a very great pleasure I take; usually it stays in my head, but this time, what a marvelous opportunity to show what I think about quite a lot of the time! Happy Holidays, Edna <3

These particular minor characters are ones for whom I'd been batting around ideas off and on for a good handful of years, and I'm so grateful that this prompt provided an unexpected framework. Thank you very much!
