I absolutely adore this. ADORE. The little details are fantastic, they are so perfectly in character, I absolutely love that Wensleydale is doing entomology! And this:

he's smiling like he's up to his waist in the old mill pond and covered in duckweed.

The most perfect simile for them ever, it's so ridiculously delightful how that means such a different set of emotions for Them than, you know, normal people. :D

Thank you so very much for this.

I don't know why, but the dunking-Pepper's-little-sister-in-the-pond scene is one that cycles back and back and back again through my memory (like a bad penny). It's easy to wonder what other mischief they must have got up to there over the years. But it must have involved getting covered in duckweed, that much is certain...

Thank you very much for reading! *hugs* It's been a while, I think, since I've had any kind of direct discourse/contact with you on LJ, and I must confess it's welcome <3 Happy Holidays.

The paths that the Them took after going off to university feel very true to their characters while still remaining interesting. I especially like how Brian and Wensleydale discuss Adam's place as their leader, and the sense that by splitting up the Them have changed their relationship while still keeping the essential bond they share. The writing is really nice too, it has a great flow.

I'm pleased to hear you found this true to them, and I'm glad that the style of the piece holds together. It's slightly different than I'm usually wont to do, I think (present tense, subtle POV-shifts within a single scene, etc.)

Thank you, and Happy Holidays <3
