Title: Shame
Recipient: interrobam
Author: aten_ra
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley; brief Succubus/Crowley
Author’s Notes: I love these two in the context of a D/s arrangement with Crowley subbing, so I jumped on this prompt. The humiliation kink itself was surprisingly difficult to write and the fic kept twisting out of my nice, neat outline to spawn ( Read more... )

Oh, wow, I didn't expect to like this as much as I did, given my personal reading preferences-- but I really, really did. The concept of Flash Bastard Crowley and Accidental Demon Crowley being separate, for one thing, is a particular favorite of mine. This Crowley is just so endearing and precious in this, and in spite of the setting-- and Aziraphale was handled really nicely as well. This was really in character and lovely, which might come across as a funny comment, given the rating, but I can't help it. <33 I'm really glad I went ahead and read this one. :)

Thank you so much! :) The Flash Bastard/Accidental Demon divide didn't appear until draft...three, I think? It was just a thing where the story went 'No. This plan is not working. Do this instead," so I did. I'm glad it worked out!

Do you know, this is the first time I've seen someone do D/s Aziraphale and Crowley where it's in-character and has a point to make beyond just the smut? Thank you so much for doing right by Crowley when the stakes are relatively high. For doing right by both of them under these circumstances, for that matter <3

omg thank you; it's so nice when one of your favourite authors has good things to say. This isn't the first D/s fic I've written of this pairing (it's one of my favourite concepts), but it's been a long time since I did it or any fic, really. I was getting nervous as the month went on, tbh. Everyone's stuff has been so fabulous this year. So glad you liked it. <3

I was also quite pleasantly surprised: they're not a pair I usually picture into D/s but you made it work for them, and it meant something, and the characterisation was great \o/

Thank you so much! One thing about D/s relationships (and BDSM), there are SO MANY different ways to go about them. It's not always heavy bondage, whips, and leather. Some folks just do pure psychological power exchange without extra props or equipment, some people express their sadistic streak through teasing and denial rather than inflicting pain (which is how the Crowley in this fic prefers to do it), and some masochists like their torture on the cruelly gentle side rather than painful.

I also really enjoy this pairing with Crowley subbing, and you've done an exquisite job here. I like that you used the events of the book as a turning point for them, allowing Crowley to admit that he really needs Aziraphale. The way Aziraphale is constantly nurturing, even in the context of sexually humiliating Crowley, is so in-character. I love it when smut has this much emotional depth. Well done.

Thank you! Aziraphale has always struck me as one who, if he were in such a relationship, would be a very attentive and responsible dominant. He'd never be one to skip aftercare or not talk about the scene later, especially when Crowley safeworded.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this, I was a bit wary of the D/s element but you wrote beatifully, and your Crowley seemingly so lost and ashamed about his own kink, and how caring Aziraphale is in this. Fantastic work!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! There are so many ways one can be involved in a Dominant/submissive relationship, and it was fun to have the opportunity to write something a bit different than what a lot of people think of when they hear about D/s.
