Oh wow. OH WOW.

One, this story is exquisitely paced. It draws the tension out almost to the breaking point before letting us down every so nicely. Two, the visuals really are great. Third, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need a private bunk, what with imagining Crowley and Aziraphale doing 69 and all...

This story was so well written it HURTS. Love it. LOOOVE ITTT.

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you! This story was one of those cases where, in order to get the tension right, I did a little bit of working backwards from the climax to build it up more. I criss-crossed a few times. Kind of like doing overdubs in recording.

There's never enough 69 in fic in general. SO sexy! It had to happen in a scene set in that year, at the very least. :D

I love your characterization of Aziraphale! The way that he's not actually a "square" and yet retains his conservative personality is wonderful. You manage to give him the experience of his 6,000 years without making him prudish or naive. The visual of the two of them in their true forms... tripping... airborne... doing THAT was simultaneously hilarious and seriously sexy.

Kudos secret author. Well done.

Thank you so much! I think Aziraphale has seen a lot in his 6,000 years...if anything, he's more jaded than naive. I think a lot of cultural upheavals going on around him just roll off him like water off a duck by this point.

Since Crowley and Aziraphale can affect their environment around them with extreme ease, the idea of them TRIPPING BALLS is actually pretty terrifying - I think I just Fridge Horrored myself. :D Fortunately they were focused mostly on each other.

Thanks again!

Thank you! I'm so glad the humor worked for you so well!

I mean, the 60s were pretty funny to begin with, and mixing Aziraphale and Crowley in--it just writes itself, really. :D

I really, really wish I knew more about rock music so I can give this the thoughtful review it deserves, because it's so clear you know what you're talking about and it blew me away and I have a feeling that there are tons of references to the history of rock that I'm not getting. (And are those SPN and Discworld references I spy?)

Oh dear, Aziraphale, please stop trying to fit in with the fashions and stick to tartan. XD Though the idea of him smoking hashish out of a Tolkien-esque pipe was hilarious!

Shirtless under his fringed suede jacket, his headband periodically slipping down over his eyes and stopped only by his round pink sunglasses

I want to see art of Crowley like this right now XDDD

He’d always thought their first time might be kind of human, and awkward, and earthy. Instead, it happened in the air, above a crowd, to the tune of ecstatic psychedelic funk, and it happened when they were a winged serpent and a wheel of flame.Oh gods, that is BEAUTIFUL. Lovely lines, and the images, oh gods. *___* Amazing ( ... )

Thank you so, so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed this so much!

Yes, there are a lot of rock history jokes in there, for sure - I'm working on a writer's notes sort of thing for when I repost it, I'll link it here too, maybe that'll explain some of that. Yes, there are definitely Discworld and SPN references too! (When a crossroads demon named Crowley appeared on SPN, my mind immediately went to how GO Crowley would like that job. Absolutely not at all, and I don't think he'd be much good at it either.)

I love the earthy, awkward, human first-times with them....but it's also hella fun to write it like this! And there's never enough 69 in smutfic, anywhere. Least I could do was include some in a scene that was set in that year!

Thank you!

So much love for that icon! XD

I think I got a few of them, but yes, the writer's notes will be very useful. :D (When I saw SPN-Crowley, I actually pictured GO-Crowley ranting to Aziraphale over wine about how this crossroads demon was copying his shtick, with the name and the black clothes, and how the other Crowley could only TRY to be as flash as he was, while Aziraphale simply nodded and patted his hand and poured them both more wine.)

And also strangely beautiful, somehow. I think I just have a thing for metaphysical sex. XD I wish I could draw this scene, but given my art skills Crowley would end up a squiggly line with two curves for wings and Aziraphale would be a spiky circle. And yes, the 69ing being set in '69 was the icing on the cake. :D

Hahahah yeah. I'm sure the disparaging remarks about one-on-one piecework and out-of-date thinking factored in there heavily too. Well, it's not like Aziraphale's side really came out looking any better!

I adore metaphysical sex. I also adore Mood Whiplash shifts in between, which is something I think these two are very rpone to. :D

I got your writer's notes and references right here!

Eeeeeeeeeek! This is so brilliant! I didn't even consider the idea of this prompt NOT being AU, but you managed to do it beautifully! :D

I looove that it all happens in the 60s - another thing I totally didn't think of when I came up with the prompt, but it makes so much more sense than it would've, if it had played at a more recent time.

I... honestly don't know what to say because this was just... SO GOOD! :D I love your characterisations of Crowley and Aziraphale; they were just right. Many parts of this made me giggle; both because picturing some of these scenes was hilarious and because the writing was so great!

Then... the outfits. The. Outfits. Loved them :D

And the boys being drunk and stoned, and the tension between them that just kept going on, was... guh. And the sex. And the 69 ( ... )

I am so, so, so glad you like it!! I think it is kind of AU in the sense that it's a different reality than the one that would have led to the relationship they have in the book...but I love writing stories that way.

I've kind of wanted to write a Swinging 60s story for years, and this prompt just made it all fit together. Like, what is Crowley doing...oh, a reluctant rock star! Yes! It was so much fun to write, and to research, and to figure out how they would fit into that world without going too far out of character. Aziraphale seems to stay a sort of vaguely lazy guardian figure no matter what. Thanks for the inspiration and motivation. And a lot of the things you mentioned you liked are things I really, really love to write.

There needs to be more 69 in fic. Especially fic set in 1969. It was a Year of the Cock, you know. :D
